Biography
Scott Sternberg serves as Managing Partner of Sternberg, Naccari & White in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he helps guide the firm’s operations and works closely with individuals, businesses, and media organizations on complex legal matters.
Scott maintains a national litigation practice with a focus on Commercial Litigation and First Amendment Law. He represents businesses of all sizes in a wide range of disputes, including personal injury, real estate, partnership, and contract matters. His background in media, messaging, and public affairs allows him to provide practical guidance to clients involved in high-visibility and sensitive litigation.
A significant portion of Scott’s practice is devoted to Litigation – First Amendment issues. He represents newspapers, television stations, and other media entities in matters involving public records, open meetings, libel, privacy, and related constitutional concerns. Scott serves as general counsel to the Louisiana Press Association and advises news organizations such as The Advocate and The Times-Picayune. He also works with television stations and journalists across the country.
Through his work with the Louisiana Press Association, Scott has spent more than a decade drafting, amending, and supporting legislation, including frequent testimony before the Louisiana Legislature. His practice regularly involves issues of public access, open government, ethics, and constitutional law.
Scott earned his Juris Doctor and Diploma in Civil Law, cum laude, from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center. While at LSU Law, he was a member of the Louisiana Law Review, selected for the Moot Court Board, and elected president of the Student Bar Association. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from LSU, where he served as editor of The Daily Reveille.
His background also includes political campaign and campaign finance work. During law school, Scott represented tens of thousands of students as the elected student member of the LSU System Board of Supervisors.
Scott is currently in his second term as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Pro Bono Project. He also serves on the boards of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana and the Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Engagement. His prior board service includes the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross of Southeast Louisiana, the Young Leadership Council, the LSU Law Alumni Board, and the Manship School of Mass Communication Alumni Board. In 2025, he rejoined the reconstituted LSU Law School Board of Trustees.
From 2012 to 2018, Scott served on the faculty of Loyola University’s School of Communication, teaching media law and ethics. He returned to the faculty in 2024.
Scott and his wife, Breland, are the parents of four children and enjoy a busy family life in New Orleans.
