Since joining the firm in 1975, Scott S. Brinkmeyer focused his law practice in various areas of business, tort, environmental, insurance and real estate litigation, representing major corporations, small businesses and individuals as both plaintiffs and defendants in lawsuits in federal and state courts throughout Michigan. Scott has successfully transitioned his practice with more emphasis in alternative dispute resolution as an arbitrator and mediator. As a certified civil neutral arbitrator on the National Panel of the American Arbitration Association, and a court-approved mediator in various state circuit courts, he has arbitrated and mediated numerous complex cases involving a wide variety of claims initiated in jurisdictions throughout the U.S. Scott has also served as an adjunct professor teaching pretrial skills to future practitioners at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Grand Rapids.
Scott is the past president of the Federal Bar Association Western Michigan Chapter, past president of the State Bar of Michigan, former chair of the Executive Committee of the State Bar Board of Commissioners, and past chair of the State Bar Representative Assembly. He has been recognized with the highest distinction from his peer lawyers and judges with the Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent rating. Also a past president of the Grand Rapids chapter of Rotary International, Scott is currently the president of the Grand Rapids Rotary Charity Foundation.
