Former federal prosecutor Scott C. Cox is a partner at Cox & Mazzoli law offices in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Cox practices federal criminal defense law, handling matters involving drug violations, white collar crime and other misdemeanors and felonies. He also represents clients in state court criminal matters throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Mr. Cox has been a licensed attorney since 1985. He is admitted in all Kentucky state courts and before the U. S. District Courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, the Southern District of Indiana, and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Before founding the Cox & Mazzoli law firm, Mr. Cox served as a JAG Officer in the U. S. Army Reserves and was a Captain in the Kentucky National Guard. He practiced as an Assistant United States Attorney for more than seven years and serve as Counsel for the United States Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Cox has served in various leadership roles over the course of his career. He is the former vice chairman of the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance and a former member of the Louisville Bar Association Board of Directors. He also presently serves as the Chairman of the Louisville Arena Authority, the body that supervises the KFC YUM! Center, home to the University of Louisville Women’s and Men’s basketball teams and a venue for concerts and other entertainment. Mr. Cox is also a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Cox earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky in 1981 and he received his law degree from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law.
