Sara J. Erskine

Sara Erskine is a Toronto-based litigation lawyer at BE Law LLP who advises businesses, executives, and professionals on complex commercial and securities disputes. She brings more than 20 years of experience in trial and appellate advocacy, representing clients at every stage of the litigation process.

Sara is recognized by Best Lawyers Canada in Corporate and Commercial Litigation and is listed as a Litigation Star in Commercial Litigation by Benchmark Canada. Before co-founding BE Law LLP, she was a founding partner at Weintraub Erskine Huang LLP and Reuters LLP. Sara began her legal career at McCarthy Tétrault LLP.

Sara’s practice includes Corporate and Commercial Litigation and Labour and Employment Law, with a focus on shareholder and partnership disputes, securities regulation matters, insolvency-related litigation, and workplace-related disputes. She regularly acts in cases involving allegations of fraud, breach of trust, and fiduciary duty. Her work includes matters with cross-border elements, including proceedings connected to the United States and Hong Kong.

Sara has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario and at the Supreme Court of Canada. In connection with her securities litigation practice, she represents clients before the Capital Markets Tribunal (formerly the Ontario Securities Commission) and the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (formerly IIROC and the MFDA).

Sara is a frequent speaker at legal conferences and regularly presents to industry associations on managing business risk in commercial, shareholder, and securities disputes. She has been actively involved in the education and professional development of lawyers throughout her career and currently serves as Chair of the Securities Litigation Group at The Advocates’ Society.
