Biography
Sara Amies is a Seattle employment lawyer with more than two decades of experience advising employees and small businesses on workplace legal matters. Based in Seattle, Washington, she practices with Helsell Fetterman LLP and focuses on Litigation – Labor and Employment. Sara counsels both employees and employers on a wide range of workplace disputes and works with clients to pursue practical resolutions through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation when necessary.
Her practice includes employment discrimination claims, workplace retaliation matters, contract disputes, severance negotiations, non‑competition and non‑solicitation agreements, and other business and employment conflicts. Sara regularly represents individual plaintiffs in state and federal court and has handled numerous jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations involving employment law issues.
Sara also advises clients on restrictive covenant matters, including disputes involving non‑compete agreements. She works closely with clients to develop legal strategies that reflect their goals while navigating Washington employment law and the realities of workplace litigation.
Her work has also played a role in developments in Washington law affecting employee rights and religious employers. In Woods v. Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission (2022), litigation in which she was involved addressed important questions about workplace protections for LGBTQIA employees and religious organizations, including a petition for certiorari to the United States Supreme Court.
From her office in Seattle, Sara represents clients throughout Washington in employment litigation and related labor and employment matters.
