Sam Colletti is a Board Certified family lawyer with more than 20 years of experience representing clients in Austin, Texas and throughout Central Texas. He practices with Bryant Colletti Kaplan Kinsler & De La Reza LLP, where his work focuses on Family Law and Family Law Mediation. Sam regularly represents professionals, business owners, and their spouses in divorce and other complex family law matters. Known for his measured and thoughtful approach, he listens carefully, communicates clearly, and approaches each case with careful preparation.
Sam’s practice includes divorce, child custody disputes, property division, premarital and postmarital agreements, enforcement actions, and mediation. His work as both a litigator and mediator reflects an understanding that family law matters often involve emotional, financial, and practical challenges at the same time. He focuses on identifying how these factors influence negotiation, settlement, and trial strategy while helping clients make informed decisions throughout the process.
In negotiations, Sam is direct, diplomatic, and focused on resolving disputes efficiently when possible. When litigation becomes necessary, he is a prepared advocate who presents his clients’ positions clearly and effectively in court. His wife would describe this tendency more simply as, “he thinks he’s right about everything.”
Originally from Port Arthur, Texas, Sam attended Trinity University in San Antonio before moving to Austin in 2002 to attend the University of Texas School of Law. Despite years in Austin, he has managed to hold onto his Southeast Texas accent.
Before law school, Sam spent time as a competitive basketball player, trumpet player, and Eagle Scout. At Trinity University, he participated in a country-western dance troupe and sang bass/baritone in the college choir while earning his degree in Political Science. During law school, he continued his interest in music by singing in, arranging for, and eventually conducting the law school a cappella group, while also remaining active in intramural sports.
Today, Sam considers being a husband and father his most important role. His wife, Lauren Colletti, is a functional medicine nurse practitioner: laurenjcolletti.com. Conversations about their work often reveal a shared approach centered on curiosity, active listening, and respect for the challenges people face during stressful periods of life. Sam brings this perspective to his Family Law practice by working to understand both the immediate conflict and the broader circumstances affecting each family.
In addition to litigation, Sam maintains an active Family Law Mediation practice serving clients and attorneys in Austin and across Texas. He values the opportunity to help parties work through difficult issues in a structured and productive setting. Since the pandemic, his mediation practice has continued to grow as more families and attorneys seek flexible and efficient ways to resolve disputes. His own children, however, remain unconvinced by his attempts to mediate sibling disagreements.
Sam and Lauren live in the East Oak Hill area of Austin with their three children, Hazel, Harrison, and Holland, along with a rotating collection of reptiles and insects acquired by Harrison. Outside the office, Sam spends much of his time driving to sports practices, school events, rehearsals, and birthday parties. When time allows, he enjoys coffee on the front porch, mowing the lawn, playing beach volleyball, and grilling steaks—preferably all in one day and in that order.
