Biography

Ryan Squires is a trial lawyer with Scott Douglass & McConnico LLP in Austin, Texas. His practice includes Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants, and Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs. Ryan represents businesses, individuals, and professionals in complex disputes involving breach of fiduciary duty, product liability, business divorces, professional malpractice, wrongful death, and other high-stakes civil litigation matters.

Ryan has taken cases through final verdict throughout his career, serving as lead counsel in jury trials, bench trials, and binding arbitrations. In 2020, as plaintiff’s trial counsel in a breach-of-fiduciary-duty case, Ryan helped secure a verdict exceeding $40 million. At the time, the verdict was reported as the largest private-plaintiff verdict in Travis County in two decades and the second-largest judgment for a private plaintiff in the county’s history. The case was later included among the Top 100 Verdicts of 2021 by The National Law Journal. Following post-judgment proceedings, including contempt proceedings and court-ordered civil confinement, the matter was ultimately resolved by mutual agreement without any admission of liability.

Ryan is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL) and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

In addition to his trial work, Ryan has obtained favorable results for clients through summary judgments, negotiated resolutions, and take-nothing verdicts in state and federal courts across Texas. His experience includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial disputes and catastrophic personal injury litigation.

Ryan was recognized as Baylor Young Lawyer of the Year in 2016 and Austin’s Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year in 2013.
