Russel O. Primeaux

Prior to assuming “Of Counsel” status, Russel Primeaux guided Kean Miller’s intellectual property practice, focusing on Patent Law, Trademark Law, Copyright Law, and trade secret matters. Based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Russel is a Registered Patent Attorney licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His practice includes counseling clients on securing intellectual property protection and representing them in Litigation – Intellectual Property and Litigation – Patent matters involving alleged infringement.

Russel also assists clients with the licensing, sale, and evaluation of intellectual property assets, providing practical insight throughout the life cycle of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. His work frequently involves coordinating intellectual property strategy with broader business and litigation objectives.

Russel handles intellectual property matters across a wide range of technologies, including biochemistry, business methods, chemical processes, computer printer designs, digital hardware designs, electronic devices, medical devices, microprocessor design, electric power transmission, gas chromatography, oil exploration, software, thermodynamics, and waste treatment. He has served on numerous occasions as a testifying witness in patent infringement litigation involving both utility patents and design patents.

Before entering private practice, Russel served as a Marine artillery officer and later as a Judge Advocate, experience that continues to inform his disciplined and methodical approach to Patent Law, Trademark Law, Copyright Law, and intellectual property litigation at Kean Miller.
