About: Roger C. Jones, Esq. is the founding partner of Huddles Jones Sorteberg & Dachille, P.C., which was established in 1995 and has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report for several years as one of America’s premier construction law firms. He has practiced construction and government contract law for over 34 years, which has taken him to construction projects all over the United States and even to some very remote regions in the mid-East. He has been in the bowels of the US Supreme Court, the Pentagon and Grand Central Station in New York. He has crawled through the skylights of the World Bank and walked through arenas, hospitals, office buildings, airports, laboratories, theme parks and museums during every phase of their construction. Mr. Jones has litigated many complex construction cases to a successful verdict. In a 2009 jury trial, involving the mechanical systems for the Charlotte Arena in North Carolina, his client was awarded over $2 million representing 100% of the amounts claimed. More recently, in a 2015 trial involving the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History before the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, Mr. Jones’ client was awarded over $1.3 million including 100% of the amounts sought for a complicated construction labor inefficiency claim. Mr. Jones’ has also enjoyed the thrill of successfully arguing cases before the Virginia Supreme Court and several federal appellate courts, which have created new laws on issues important to the construction industry.
Education: B.S. in Architecture, The Catholic University of America, 1982, J.D., Washington University, 1985. Mr. Jones’ studies in Architecture included a post-graduate concentration in construction management. With this background, he has a keen ability to understand and comprehend the work of numerous different construction trades, and construction CPM scheduling. This enables Mr. Jones to work well with construction clients, engineers and consultants, who respect his style and simplified manner for presenting technical construction information.
Bar Admissions: Mr. Jones is licensed in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia and is admitted to practice in the local courts of each jurisdiction as well as the U.S. Federal District Courts for the Eastern District of Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Colorado. He is also admitted in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Eleventh Circuit as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. Given his practice in federal government construction litigation, Mr. Jones is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
