Biography
Rod Urquhart is a business litigation lawyer with Edwards, Kenny & Bray LLP in Vancouver, British Columbia. His practice is focused on dispute resolution and litigation for businesses, individuals, and organizations across a broad range of industries.
Rod’s recognized practice areas include Administrative and Public Law, Corporate and Commercial Litigation, and Insurance Law. He regularly acts in disputes involving commercial agreements, real estate matters, employment and workplace issues, estates, construction claims, personal injury, and insurance coverage. Rod has represented clients at all levels of British Columbia courts as well as before the Federal Court of Canada.
In addition to court proceedings, Rod has significant experience representing clients before administrative tribunals. His work in this area includes matters involving business regulation, professional discipline, and compensation claims. He has recent experience with pharmacy and PharmaCare disputes, as well as Consumer Protection regulatory matters.
Rod has handled construction and property damage claims involving utilities, contractors, and multiple parties. His practice frequently involves complex, multi-party litigation and negotiated dispute resolution.
Outside of his litigation practice, Rod has been actively involved with the legal community. He was elected President of the UBC Law Alumni Association in December 2009 and has served as Past President since 2015. He also serves on the UBC Faculty of Law Dean’s Advisory Board for the Allard School of Law Alumni Magazine.
Rod has also contributed to the Canadian Bar Association, B.C. Branch. He served on the committee for the annual conference for four years and as Co-Chair in 2013 and 2014.
