Robert S. Anderson is a Partner with Farris LLP in Vancouver, British Columbia. His practice focuses on Administrative and Public Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial Litigation, Defamation and Media Law, and Insurance Law. He represents clients in court proceedings as well as arbitrations, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes involving a broad range of legal and regulatory matters.
Before joining Farris in 1981, Mr. Anderson practiced as Crown Counsel. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Tax Court of Canada, and the Supreme Court of Canada. His experience includes judicial review proceedings and matters involving decisions of statutory tribunals and administrative decision makers.
Mr. Anderson has acted for various public sector and private clients, including the Provincial Government of British Columbia, the Greater Vancouver Regional District, the City of Vancouver, the Municipality of Richmond, and the Motor Carrier Commission of British Columbia. His litigation and advisory work includes complex administrative, commercial, and public law matters.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Anderson has contributed to legal education in British Columbia. He served as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law, where he taught Administrative Law, and as an instructor in the Allan McEachern Course on Trial Advocacy. He is also an editor of Introducing Evidence at Trial: A British Columbia Handbook, published by the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, and has lectured at continuing legal education programs for lawyers throughout the province.
Mr. Anderson is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association. He is also a member and former executive member of the Canadian Media Lawyers Association, the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, and the Vancouver Bar Association.
