He is named to the list of The Best Lawyers in America and is recognized as Best Lawyers’ 2014 Los Angeles Litigation – Trust & Estates, “Lawyer of the Year”.
Mr. Sacks’ recent representative trial matters include successfully defending a family trust against claims that a family member had pledged $18 million to a charity shortly before his death; successfully representing a trustee in a complex dispute involving claims of interpretation, execution, powers to amend or revoke, and breach of fiduciary duty; and successfully representing a charitable foundation as beneficiary against proposed amendments to the trust that would have negatively impacted the charity.
Mr. Sacks is active in numerous professional organizations, including being a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) for more than a decade, where he also serves as a Member of the Fiduciary Litigation Committee and of the Will and Trust Contests Subcommittee. He has been a Member of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Real Property Trust and Estate Law Section for more than two decades, and he holds multiple positions as member of the Section’s governing Council, Vice Chair of the Corporate Sponsorship Committee, and Section Liaison to the National College of Probate Judges.
Mr. Sacks has been named to the list of Southern California Super Lawyers every year since the honor’s inception in 2004.
He is frequently called upon to speak to various organizations, including the National College of Probate Judges, the ABA, the University of Miami’s Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, Stanford University, USC Law School’s Annual Trust and Estate Conference and more. In addition, he has authored articles that have been published in Private Wealth, The Journal of Gift Planning, and Estate Planning magazines.
Mr. Sacks earned his J.D. from University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated with distinction. Prior to his work with Sacks Glazier Franklin & Lodise, he was a Founding Partner of Ross, Sacks & Glazier, LLP and a Litigation Associate at the law firm of Morrison & Foerster. He is conversant in Spanish.
