Biography
Robert is a partner of the firm and heads its Tax department and Wills, Trusts and Estates department. He received both his Bachelor of Civil Law and Common Law from McGill University in 1989 and later completed a Graduate Diploma in Taxation at McGill University.
Robert practices in the area of tax with a focus on income tax planning for Canadian private corporations and their owners, corporate reorganizations and tax dispute resolution. Robert is regularly involved in estate and succession planning and estate administration and has extensive experience in estate disputes where he has represented both estate liquidators and beneficiaries. Robert also advises on mergers and acquisitions and sales of businesses, shareholder agreements, trusts and the setting up of structures for acquiring businesses.
Robert has taught the taxation of trusts course as part of McGill University’s Graduate Diploma in Taxation program and has spoken on various tax-related topics at seminars for accountants and financial planners.
Robert is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Very involved in the community, he sits on the Board of Directors of two charitable organizations.
