Our practice is devoted exclusively to representing people who have been harmed by the negligence or wrongful conduct of others. While much of our work involves catastrophic personal injury, product liability, sexual abuse, nursing home negligence, and therapy abuse, what ties these cases together is a commitment to giving a voice to people who often find themselves facing powerful corporations, institutions, or insurance companies.

What makes our practice unique is the way we combine personal attention with national experience. Whether we are representing a single client in Maryland or serving in a leadership role in complex litigation involving thousands of people, every case is prepared with the same philosophy: listen first, treat every client with dignity and respect, and prepare the case as if it will be tried before a jury. We also embrace innovation, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence, to help us work more efficiently and deliver even better results for our clients, without ever losing the human connection at the heart of what we do.

One of the most common questions I hear is, "Do I really have a case?" My answer is usually that it's too early to know. A good lawyer doesn't jump to conclusions. We start by listening carefully, gathering the facts, reviewing the applicable law, and consulting with the right experts when necessary. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it's no, and sometimes it's "we need to investigate further." Clients appreciate an honest assessment rather than unrealistic promises.

Another question I hear often is, "Will my case go to trial?" The reality is that most cases resolve before trial, but the best settlements are usually achieved by lawyers who prepare every case as though it will ultimately be decided by a jury. Thorough preparation not only positions a case for trial if necessary, it often leads to better outcomes at the negotiating table.

Finally, many clients ask how long the process will take. Litigation is rarely fast, particularly in complex cases, but I remind clients that obtaining the right result is usually more important than obtaining the quickest one. Throughout the process, our goal is to keep clients informed, involved, and confident that their case is moving forward.

One of the most meaningful matters I've worked on this past year has been representing survivors under the Maryland Child Victims Act. Many of these clients carried the effects of childhood sexual abuse for decades before they were ever in a position to come forward. The Child Victims Act gave them an opportunity not only to seek compensation, but also to hold institutions accountable and have their stories heard.

These cases require far more than legal knowledge. They demand patience, compassion, and an understanding of trauma. Every survivor's experience is unique, and our role is to guide clients through what can be an emotionally difficult process while minimizing the risk of retraumatization. It has been incredibly rewarding to help clients obtain a measure of justice and, in many cases, a sense of closure after carrying these experiences for much of their lives.

The work has also been professionally significant because it has involved helping shape the law surrounding the Child Victims Act in Maryland. Being part of that effort—while never losing sight of the individual clients whose lives are affected—has made these cases among the most meaningful of my career.

The greatest challenge in my practice is that many of our clients come to us during the most difficult periods of their lives. Whether they have suffered a catastrophic injury, lost a loved one, or survived childhood sexual abuse, they are often dealing with physical, emotional, and financial burdens at the same time. Our responsibility is not only to advocate for them in the courtroom, but also to guide them through a legal process that can be stressful and, at times, retraumatizing.

At the same time, these cases frequently involve well-funded corporations, insurers, or institutions with significant resources and experienced legal teams. Success requires careful preparation, collaboration with outstanding experts, and a willingness to invest the time and resources necessary to fully develop each case. While the work is challenging, helping clients obtain accountability and a sense of justice makes it deeply rewarding.

My greatest inspirations were my parents. They were deeply involved in the civil rights and anti-war movements and instilled in me the belief that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with dignity, regardless of their circumstances. They taught me that if you have the ability to help others, you have a responsibility to do so.

My father was also a research scientist whose curiosity and work ethic left a lasting impression on me. He was never satisfied with easy answers. He asked questions, challenged assumptions, and followed the evidence wherever it led. That mindset has shaped the way I practice law. Whether I'm investigating the facts of a single case or working on complex litigation involving thousands of plaintiffs, I've learned that careful preparation, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to keep asking questions often make the difference between an ordinary lawyer and an effective advocate.

Outside of the office, I enjoy scuba diving, underwater photography, and animal rescue. I'm a Certified Master Scuba Diver, and some of my favorite days are spent underwater photographing tiny marine life. Scuba diving has taught me patience, attention to detail, and an appreciation for exploring places that most people never have the opportunity to see.

My wife, Beth, and I also enjoy fostering rescue dogs until they find their forever homes. It has been incredibly rewarding to help dozens of dogs make the transition from shelters to loving families. While the goodbyes are never easy, knowing they've found safe and happy homes makes every foster experience worthwhile.

After more than 40 years of practicing law, I still genuinely enjoy coming to work each day. Every case presents a new problem to solve, something new to learn, and an opportunity to help someone through one of the most difficult times in their life. I continue to find that both professionally challenging and personally rewarding.
