Rick frequently served as a medical review panel chairman. In addition, Rick is a trial attorney and continues to litigate conflicts in courts across the Midwest. He is an advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
Rick is an active pilot, having logged more than 3,500 hours and currently holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certification with Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings. He is also a Certified Flight Instructor for single and multiengine aircraft and instruments, and a speaker at aviation functions. In 2015, Rick received the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for his skills and safe operations in aviation for more than 50 years. Rick is a Board Member of the Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame.
