Reinhold Kopp

Mr. Kopp has been a lawyer in the Berlin office at HEUSSEN since 2007. Admitted to practice law in 1982, he brings with him the unique experience of having worked within the praxis of politics, administration and business. From 1985 –1994, as head of the state chancellery of the German State of Saarland, as its delegate to the European Union and its minister for economic affairs, he contributed to the shaping of the area political and administrative landscape, and held numerous supervisory positions in associated companies. Initially as authorised signatory and then as Group Senior Vice President External Affairs, he was among the top managers of Volkswagen AG, shouldering global responsibilities; in this function he was also involved in issues of automotive politics under European law, with operative tasks in EU state aid politics, the management of end-of-life vehicles, as well as compliance, governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR). He represented the company in supervisory and advisory boards as well as in important industry associations.

As a founding member and long-standing acting director of the Institute of European Media Law (EMR) located in Saarbrücken/ Brussels, he is well-acquainted with issues of media and telecommunications law. Mr. Kopp is chairman of the German Advisory Council of the German-British Chamber of Industry & Commerce and member of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).
