Biography
Rebecca Porter is a bilingual associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office with the Advocacy Group. Her practice focuses on health law and medical defence, including acting as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association. She also summered and articled at Gowling WLG.
Rebecca completed her JD in the French Common law program at the University of Ottawa. Throughout her studies, she held several teaching and research assistant positions and was a student mentor. Rebecca also participated in the 2016 Laskin Moot and completed internships for various organizations such as the Collaborative Justice Program, the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic, the Department of Justice, Pro Bono Law Help Ontario, and the Projects Abroad Human Rights Office in South Africa.
In 2019, Rebecca was a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa, teaching a course on lawyers' ethics and professional responsibility. She remains active in the legal community as a mentor, as well as a judge for moot court competitions.
