Ms. Tinder formerly served as General Counsel to the West Virginia State Board of Education and the West Virginia Department of Education (2000 – 2005). She is a member of the National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys, the National Association of State Boards of Education and the West Virginia Council of School Attorneys. In addition to her experience in education law, sheworked in private practice for more than a decade in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, medical malpractice, family law and abuse and neglect. She is a trained mediator, with extensive experience in civil and family law mediation. She has been appointed by the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals to the Region 1 West Virginia Fatality Review Team.
She is active in various civic and community organizations, serving as the State Coordinator for We The People, a program designed to promote civic competence and responsibility among West Virginia’s upper elementary and secondary students. She also is an officer of the Charleston Vandalia Rotary Club and past President of the Cotillion-Quadrille Dance Club.
Ms. Tinder earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from West Virginia University, and her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. She is member of the West Virginia State Bar and is admitted in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.
