Rayaz Khan is a labour and employment lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. He provides advice and representation to employers and management in both the private and public sectors on a wide range of labour, employment and human rights issues. Rayaz’s practice includes wrongful dismissal litigation, grievance arbitrations, labour disputes, and human rights applications as well as helping employers navigate accommodation and employment standards issues. He has also advised and assisted several corporations through large-scale restructurings.
Rayaz has appeared as counsel at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, and he has appeared as counsel in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba. Rayaz has also appeared at the appellate level, including at the Divisional Court of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Manitoba Court of Appeal. In addition to advocating in court, Rayaz has represented clients at various boards and tribunals including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Ontario Labour Relations Board. He utilizes a practical and solutions-oriented approach to all client matters—both in litigation and in day-to-day advice.
As a lawyer, Rayaz remains actively involved in various law school communities and helps organize and judge various moots throughout Ontario. He has been a member of the teaching team for Osgoode’s “Lawyer as Negotiator” course.
Outside of his practice, Rayaz enjoys watching and playing sports, spending time with his dogs, and woodworking.
