Biography

Rascoe Dean is a member of the firm’s Litigation practice, counseling clients on various business disputes, government investigations, and criminal and commercial matters.

Rascoe is a former Deputy Criminal Chief of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee where he supervised the daily practice of multiple federal prosecutors in a unit that investigated and prosecuted cases involving firearms, violent crimes, threats in interstate commerce, illegal narcotics, and child exploitation offenses. He also served as the USAO’s Appellate Chief, supervising the office’s appellate practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and assisting with complex legal issues that arose in district court.

Prior to these roles, Rascoe served as a federal prosecutor from 2019 to 2023 in the USAO’s criminal division where he handled similar matters.

Rascoe earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2015, where he served as an Articles Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. After law school, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Gilbert S. Merritt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Rascoe holds a B.A. degree from Sewanee: The University of the South in political science.

Rascoe is active in his profession and his community. He volunteers his time and efforts by serving on the Board of Trustees for Montgomery Bell Academy and the Board of Directors for Teach for America and Valor Collegiate Academies.

When not serving his clients or community, Rascoe enjoys spending time with his wife, Caroline, and their four children.
