Randell "Ran" Stoney III is a fourth-generation attorney and a native of Charleston, South Carolina. Lawyering is in his blood — his father is an attorney, his great-uncles were attorneys, and his great-grandfather left farming to become a lawyer. He is married to a lawyer whose parents and grandfather are also lawyers. Growing up, he would sit in the back of docket hearings and watch how everything worked. There was no single "aha" moment — being a lawyer was simply always what he aspired to do.
Ran received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. During law school, he served as a Summer Law Clerk for the South Carolina Attorney General and two prominent Charleston law firms. He began his legal career as a Law Clerk to the Hon. R. Markley Dennis, Junior, then honed his trial skills as Assistant Solicitor for the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of South Carolina.
Before joining the plaintiff's side, Ran practiced insurance defense at a prestigious Charleston-based firm — giving him an insider's understanding of how insurance companies evaluate, defend, and settle claims. He uses that knowledge every day to his clients' advantage. He is licensed to appear in both South Carolina State and Federal District Courts.
