Rachael L. Smiley

Rachael Smiley brings more than 15 years of legal experience to FBFK Law and currently serves as Chair of the firm’s Restructuring practice. She advises clients throughout the Chapter 11 reorganization process, including asset sales, plan confirmation, and post-confirmation plan administration.

Rachael also has experience litigating bankruptcy-related disputes, including contested matters, adversary proceedings, valuation disputes, claim objections, and avoidance actions.

Before joining FBFK Law, Rachael practiced with both boutique and large law firms. She also worked in the Office of Supply Chain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she negotiated and drafted business agreements for the university and its hospitals. That experience gave her insight into the complex financial and procurement systems that support the healthcare industry.

Rachael has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch and The Best Lawyers in America® from 2021 through 2025 for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law. She has also been named a Texas Super Lawyer for Business Bankruptcy from 2022 through 2024.
