Peter Nankivell

Peter is a highly experienced commercial and finance lawyer with over 25 years’ experience. Peter was a Partner at Herbert Geer from 1998 to 2014 and was Chair of Partners from 2012 to 2014.

Peter practises in the areas of corporate advisory, finance, and mergers and acquisitions. Peter has a diverse client base that includes major public companies such as Village Roadshow Limited and Westpac Banking Corporation. Peter also acts for a number of high net worth individuals and family offices.

Peter is a Director and Board Chair for Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA), Chair of Trustees for the Eye Research Australia Foundation, and the Lloyd & Kathleen Ansell Ophthalmology Foundation and a Director of Xavier College Foundation Limited. Peter also acts as the advisor to the Board for a number of clients that include real estate and professional services companies.

Recent experience includes:

• Acted for Village Roadshow Limited (ASX:VRL) on the sale of its 50% stake in the Singapore cinema exhibition business, Golden Village, top Orange Sky Golden Harvest Entertainment (Holdings) Limited (SEHK: 1132), owner of the other 50% of Golden Village.

• As a longstanding advisor to Village Roadshow Entertainment Group, Peter advised on a $380 million re-capitalisation program between mezzanine and equity with numerous stakeholders worldwide. This transaction won the International Financial Law Review Asia Private Equity Deal of the Year in 2013.

• In 2014 Peter acted for Madman Film and Media Pty Ltd in the purchase of the Madman Films business from Funtastic Limited.
