Patricia J. "Pat" Forte

Pat’s litigation experience includes court appearances at all levels of court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal. She has completed courses in risk assessment, risk control and risk financing to receive her Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation, and has expertise in risk management in the profit and not-for-profit sectors. She has a training and practice in alternative dispute resolution.

Pat provides insightful advice and skilled advocacy in the following core areas:

• Insurance: providing advocacy in the defence of disability, life, casualty and property claims, and advisory services such as coverage and claims opinions, policy interpretation and drafting, drafting service agreements, and regulatory compliance.
• Employment law: advising and advocating for clients about employment standards, contracts, executive agreements, workplace policies, privacy, restrictive covenants, workplace investigations, managing leaves of absence, employment discipline, termination, wrongful dismissal claims, occupational health & safety, and human rights complaints.
• Legal risk management services: offering legal risk audits, risk management planning, training, and education.
• Privacy and information protection: advising clients about rights and obligations under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and assessing claims arising from the civil tort of breach of privacy.
