Pat represents individuals and corporations in litigation involving contractual disputes, oppression claims, securities class actions, and claims against directors and officers. He has unique expertise litigating within formal insolvency proceedings. Pat acted for a successful party in the precedent-setting Ernst & Young Inc. v Essar Global Fund Ltd., et al (a Benchmark Litigation “2018 Impact Case of the Year”). He also acts for debtors, creditors, court appointed officers, and other stakeholders in corporate restructurings.
Pat has represented clients before all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Ontario Securities Commission. He frequently litigates commercial matters before the Commercial List in the Ontario Superior Court.
Pat is a graduate of Bishop’s University, Queen’s University and Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, and the Turnaround Management Association.
Pat has lectured on securities class actions at Dalhousie University and has been published in the Commercial Litigation and Arbitration Review and the Commercial Insolvency Reporter.
