Norman D. Orr is a shareholder at Kemp Klein in Troy, Michigan, focusing his practice on corporate and commercial matters, including Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law and Corporate Law. With more than forty years of experience advising businesses, lenders, and other stakeholders, he assists clients with the purchase and sale of businesses, entity formation, financing transactions, shareholder and partner disputes, and the negotiation and preparation of a wide range of business agreements.
Mr. Orr represents both lenders and borrowers in complex financing transactions. He has participated in many aspects of Chapter 11 proceedings, serving as counsel to debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, and trustees. In addition to bankruptcy matters, he assists clients with non-bankruptcy insolvency proceedings, including composition arrangements and liquidation processes such as receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and trust chattel mortgage proceedings. He also represents debtors and creditors’ committees in out-of-court restructurings, compositions, and liquidations.
Mr. Orr regularly advises borrowers and lenders in negotiating forbearance agreements and voluntary surrender agreements, helping clients address financial challenges while working toward practical business solutions.
He holds an “AV” peer review rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, reflecting the highest peer review rating available.
