Nicholas (Nick) is an associate attorney at Bercow Radell Fernandez Larkin & Tapanes focusing on land use, zoning and environmental matters.

He earned his Juris Doctor from Florida State University (FSU) College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude. At the same time, Nick earned a Master’s Degree in Aquatic Environmental Science, focusing his studies on coastal resilience and sea level rise. Before law school, he majored in Environmental Science, where he discovered his passion for the relationship between law and the environment. As a result, Nick believes in bringing an interdisciplinary approach to overcoming challenges and maximizing client interests.

Nick used his time in law school to hone the fundamental skills of a lawyer. He proudly served as the President of the Cuban American Bar Association FSU Chapter, and President of the prestigious FSU Moot Court Team. As a member of the Moot Court Team, he developed his writing, oral advocacy, and presentation skills by competing in two national appellate advocacy competitions. He was also a member of the FSU Law Review.

During law school, Nick gained experience as a law clerk at one of Tallahassee’s oldest law firms, where he developed skills across a variety of practice areas, including litigation, local government relations, administrative law, and legislative lobbying. During his time away from formal studies, Nick always returned to his roots in South Florida, where he served as a legal extern for the Honorable Judge John J. O’Sullivan in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, as well as a summer associate for the Bercow firm.

Nick accumulated several honors throughout law school, including a Cuban American Bar Association at-large scholarship; a Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation scholarship; and the FSU Law Outstanding Leadership Award.
