Nicholas is a partner in the McKercher LLP Regina office and focuses on professional liability defense, insurance defense, and privacy law.
Nicholas is Chair of the firm’s Executive Committee and Chair of the Health Law Practice Group. He is a member of the Insurance Defence and Professional Regulation Practice Groups. He focuses on professional liability defence, construction claims, aviation claims, product liability claims, and professional discipline. He has represented numerous professionals in legal actions and regulatory matters, including lawyers, physicians, engineers, financial advisors, accountants, realtors, insurance agents, physiotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and educators. Nicholas also assists clients with privacy law, particularly in relation to personal health information.
He has appeared at all levels of Court in Saskatchewan and before numerous tribunals and panels. He is qualified as a Mediator by the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Nicholas was honoured with a Queen’s Counsel appointment in 2018.
Nicholas has provided pro bono legal assistance through the Regina Free Legal Clinic since 2006. Nicholas has played an active role with the Regina Bar Association since 2004, serving as a Director and Vice-President and then two terms as President from 2006 – 2008. He is an instructor at the CPLED Bar course and a presenter at various legal education seminars. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan and for Youth Ballet of Saskatchewan. In 2018 – 2019, Nicholas was President of the Canadian Bar Association – Saskatchewan Branch.
