Nicholas is a partner in the Regina office and a member of the Health Law Practice Group and Insurance Defence Practice Group. He believes client needs are best met by providing realistic advice, combined with effective representation. His practice includes professional liability defence, construction losses, aviation losses, product liability claims, and professional discipline. He has represented numerous professionals in legal actions and regulatory matters, including lawyers, physicians, engineers, financial advisors, accountants, realtors, insurance agents, physiotherapists, psychologists, and educators. Nicholas also assists clients with privacy law, particularly in relation to personal health information.

Nicholas has assisted clients at all levels of court in Saskatchewan. He is qualified as a mediator pursuant to the guidelines set by the Law Society of Saskatchewan. He was honoured with a Queen’s Counsel appointment in 2018.

He has provided pro bono legal assistance through the Regina Free Legal Clinic since 2006. Nicholas has played an active role with the Regina Bar Association since 2004, serving as a Director and Vice-President, as well as President of the Association from 2006 – 2008. He is an instructor at the CPLED bar course and a presenter at various legal education seminars. In 2018 – 2019, Nicholas was President of the Canadian Bar Association – Saskatchewan Branch.

Nicholas was the recipient of the 2022 Victor P. Dietz, K.C. Pro Bono Service Award, which is presented jointly every year by the Law Society of Saskatchewan and Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan. The recipient is recognized for contributions to Pro Bono services in Saskatchewan with respect to delivery of Pro Bono legal services, assisting with the establishment of Pro Bono programs, and education and advocacy to promote a Pro Bono culture.

Nicholas has been Repeatedly Recommended in the area of Medical Negligence in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for his work representing defendants.

Nicholas has been recently recognized by Chambers Canada in their 2023 directory for Litigation: General Commercial Law in Saskatchewan. Chambers noted that he "focuses his contentious practice on insurance defence. He handles a broad range of matters, including professional liability, construction losses and product liability. He often acts for clients in technical professions.”

Nicholas was also recently selected as a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only society of North American lawyers, judges, and scholars.
