Biography

Neil V. Carbone is a trusts and estates lawyer handling all aspects of that practice: planning, administration, and litigation. Neil provides sophisticated advice to individuals and families, entrepreneurs, closely-held businesses, trust companies, banks, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and foundations and other institutions. He regularly appears before the Surrogate’s Courts and other courts throughout New York, as well as the United States Tax Court.

Neil is a trusted professional who prioritizes client needs and goals across the estate planning process. Using the best available vehicles and protective strategies, he customizes wills and trust arrangements that minimize risk, accommodate tax laws, and prepare for potential future scenarios. In addition to crafting estate plans, establishing trusts, creating foundations, and guiding charitable giving, Neil also administers estates and trusts, and represents clients before federal and state taxing authorities.

Maintaining a robust trusts and estates litigation practice, Neil is known for handling highly complex and emotionally charged disputes. He diligently outlines issues and considerations for clients as they make important decisions to resolve disputes at both the trial and appellate level. Neil capably facilitates solutions to disputes that avoid costly litigation entirely, but should litigation be unavoidable, he is a strong and thoughtful advocate. Neil resolves a range of matters including will and trust contests, contested fiduciary accountings, fiduciary surcharge and removal proceedings, and other high stakes disagreements.

Neil began his career as a law clerk with Farrell Fritz while attending law school at night, returning to the firm as Partner in 2021. Prior to rejoining the firm, Neil was a partner with an AM Law 100 firm in New York City.
