Biography

Nathan is a litigator with Fasken’s Commercial Litigation and White Collar Defence and Investigations group. Drawing on over two decades of experience with the RCMP, Nathan’s litigation practice is divided into two main streams: defending corporate clients and individuals alleged to have committed various forms of regulatory, criminal and professional misconduct, and acting for claimants and defendants in a wide range of corporate and commercial disputes. Nathan brings a unique blend of skills and experience that complement Fasken’s varied legal practice.

Nathan’s diverse defence practice spans criminal, civil, regulatory, and administrative proceedings, including cases of breach of trust, fraud, malicious prosecution, and other alleged non-criminal wrongdoing. He represents clients facing allegations contrary to numerous statutes including the Criminal Code, the Fisheries Act, the Mines Act, the Motor Dealer Act, the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, and others. He also defends professionals accused of wrongdoing by their regulatory bodies, including Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia and the Law Society of B.C. Nathan has particular experience in the mining sector in British Columbia and Nunavut, and has also acted as special prosecutor, working with Crown and police investigators in relation to criminal fraud charges.

Nathan represents clients in various corporate and commercial disputes involving contracts, property, debt, and shareholder remedies. He also practices in employment disputes and banking and insurance related matters, including with respect to negligence and defamation claims.
