Nathan specialises in providing practical and commercial assistance to clients in the international trade and transport, shipping, maritime, logistics, commodities and offshore industries.
He advises his clients in relation to all aspects of commercial law, liability, regulation and dispute resolution, with a particular focus on the carriage of goods by sea, charter parties and contractual arrangements, commercial terms, ship arrest and admiralty, regulatory and oil spill prosecution, government procurement and tendering in the maritime sector and litigation/arbitration in relation to liability defence and recovery of claims.
Nathan’s clients include local and foreign ship owners, operators and charterers; international P&I and Defence Clubs; freight forwarders and logistics providers; road transport operators; bunker suppliers; towage and salvage providers; importers, exporters and commodities traders; stevedores; vessel manufacturers; local marine operators and luxury yacht owners.
With particular expertise in commercial and regulatory advice and dispute resolution, he works closely with industry clients to help them achieve their commercial goals and work through their regulatory responsibilities.
Nathan has also advised leading international offshore supply and manning companies in relation to offshore oil and gas contractual negotiations, disputes, work health and safety (asbestos) and regulation.
Nathan acted for the lead towage and salvage contractor in relation to the wreck removal of the “West Atlas” drilling rig. He provides ongoing advice and contractual negotiation assistance to logistics providers involved in various offshore developments, including the Gladstone LNG Project.
