Biography

N. Ward Lambert is President of Harper, Lambert & Brown, P.A. Formerly an associate in the Construction Department of the firm of Haynesworth, Marion, McKay & Guerard, Ward joined Donald Harper in establishing The Harper Law Firm, P.A. in 1995 Ward is a 1990 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. During law school, Ward was a member of the School's Moot Court. He is a member of the Bar of South Carolina and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is a member of the Greenville County and American Bar Associations, the South Carolina Bar Association where he presently serves on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, and the South Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Prior to attending law school, Ward received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University in 1984. Thereafter, Ward worked as a project engineer for Milliken Chemicals, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. As such, he was involved in a wide array of projects, including process design, plant expansions and the grass roots construction of a chemical processing plant.

Ward concentrates his practice in construction litigation, arbitrations and mediations. He has been lead counsel in major trials and arbitrations involving condominium developments, hospitals, schools, and underground power service utilities.

  • EllisDon Construction Company vs. Clemson University
Contract controversy successfully pursued before the S.C. State Engineer and South Carolina Procurement Review Panel to obtain amounts owed to general contractor in connection with the construction of a research facility located on the campus of Clemson University. Case included a Petition to mandamus the State Engineer, numerous court rulings regarding unclear administrative and procedural aspects of proceedings before the State Engineer and/or Review Panel, two multi-week trials and, ultimately, a decision by the South Carolina Supreme Court addressing the liability of Clemson University for approximately $300,000 in accrued interest on amounts awarded to the contractor.
  • Reinicke Corporation vs. Grant Forest Products, et al
Arbitration proceeding to collect disputed amounts owed to turn-key electrical contractor in connection with electrical work performed at the two largest OSB manufacturing plants located in the US. Arbitration award totalling approximately $5.2 million obtained on behalf of the contractor.
  • Wellman, Inc vs Fluor Enterprises, Inc, et al
Successfully defended Fluor Enterprises, Inc. against a property damage claim totalling approximately $25 million, arising out of an expolsion at a manufacturing facility located in Florence, South Carolina. Settlement reached at mediation after partial summary judgment obtained with respect to a substantial portion of the plaintiff''s claims.
  • Black & Veatch International vs Cogen South, LLC et al
Approximatley $50 million construction dispute arising out of the engineering, procurement and construction of a cogeneration power plant in Charleston, South Carolina. Successfully pursued claim on behalf of Black & Veatch International. Settlement reached after jury selection.
