Monty Beck limits his practice of law to the narrow, specialized issues surrounding marriage and families. He has long enjoyed the opportunity to guide people through divorce to new phases of their lives through practical training in creative problem solving and long-term planning developed with each client’s unique goals in mind. Helping clients restructure after separation by creating lasting resolutions for their families has been a high point of his career.
He is a 1984 graduate of Campbell University School of Law, cum laude. Monty was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honors society and Editor-in-Chief of the Campbell Law Review. He holds a BS in Criminal Justice Administration and Political Science from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which he received in 1981.
From 1984 through 1990, Monty associated with the firm of Coward, Hicks & Siler, PA, before serving as an assistant district attorney from 1991 through 1994. He returned to Coward, Hicks & Siler, PA, as a shareholder in late 1994. In 2001, he became a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law. He is a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated lawyer since 2010. Monty has been listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers since 2014, and was listed to Best Lawyers in America in 2015.
Monty limits his practice to matters involving divorce and other family matters. He is admitted to practice in all North Carolina State courts, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
