Biography
Michael Sullivan is a Senior Trial Partner at Heidell, Pittoni, Murphy & Bach, LLP with more than 25 years of experience litigating and trying cases to verdict throughout New York State. Mr. Sullivan joined HPMB in 2000, became a Partner in the firm in 2004 and has been a member of the firm's Executive Committee since 2014.
Mr. Sullivan represents several of the premier medical centers and health systems in the United States, and he specializes in defending those institutions and individual physicians in complex, high exposure cases in all medical specialties including cardiology, orthopedic surgery, podiatry, general surgery, neurosurgery, obstetrics, gynecology and neurology. His practice includes the general defense of medical malpractice cases in state and federal court, state hospital investigations, physician disciplinary proceedings and general risk management for medical professionals. In addition, Mr. Sullivan regularly lectures on risk management and quality assurance issues, litigation prevention measures and trial strategy.
Prior to joining HPMB, Mr. Sullivan practiced for five years as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office where he tried more than twenty misdemeanor and felony cases to verdict, including robberies, attempted murders and homicides.
