Mr. Smith received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech in 1982, graduating magna cum laude. In 1985 he received his Juris Doctor degree, with high honors, from Duke University and was a member of the Order of the Coif.

Mr. Smith is Board Certified and Re-Certified in Civil Trial Law by The Florida Bar and is Board Certified and Re-Certified as a Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mickey has maintained an active trial practice and has achieved results for his clients that exceed one hundred million dollars.

Mr. Smith has been a member of The Florida Bar since 1985 and is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Florida, Middle District of Florida and Southern District of Florida (including Trial Bar). He is also a member of the Eleventh Circuit and United States Supreme Court Bars.

Mickey has been married for 29 years to Elizabeth Smith, who teaches exceptional children in the Palm Beach County public school system. They live in Wellington, Florida. Both are active in community affairs; are “semi-retired” skydivers after thousands of jumps; are novice golfers; are avid Miami Dolphins and Duke Blue Devil basketball fans, and are always planning their next travel adventure.
