Advises corporations and business trusts on the tax aspects of cross-border and domestic commercial transactions, including investments, divestments, mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations and financings. Also advises individuals on estate planning, personal trust, immigration and emigration matters. Provides counsel on tax disputes. Special expertise in international taxation. Has worked on a variety of cross-border and domestic tax mandates, including regularly acting for major Canadian and US publicly traded companies, investment funds and state owned entities with respect to mergers and acquisitions involving Canadian, European, US and other foreign targets. Also has extensive experience in planning and implementing private equity and other fund structures. Has lectured on taxation at McGill University and Université de Montréal. Regular speaker at tax conferences and seminars in Canada and abroad. Published extensively in a variety of tax periodicals.
