Michael is a litigator who believes the best time to think about a dispute is often before one begins. His practice focuses on insurance, employment and construction disputes, as well as broader civil litigation. He also advises clients on employment agreements, contracts and liability releases, helping them identify and manage risks before they become costly problems.
When disputes do arise, Michael takes a practical, value-focused approach. He has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta, Court of King’s Bench and Federal Court, and has successfully argued multiple Provincial Court trials. He works to give clients a clear understanding of their options while keeping sight of the time, financial and personal costs that litigation can demand.
A Calgary native, Michael holds an Honours BA from the University of Calgary and a law degree from Thompson Rivers University, where he graduated as valedictorian. Before law, his eclectic résumé included Statistics Canada, a liquor store, a children's summer camp where he taught criminal science, and research into corporate governance in national sport organizations.
Outside the office, Michael is an enthusiastic participant and spectator in sports. He describes himself as a “high-effort, low-performance athlete”—always willing to join the team and, conveniently, make everyone else look good.
