Michael’s practice focuses on complex and multi-party legal matters, including defense of serious and catastrophic tort claims and construction defect, job site injuries and fatalities, and contractor disputes. He has had the pleasure of representing clients in all phases and forms of dispute resolution, including formal civil litigation, arbitration, administrative venues, and pre-suit investigations and mediations. His experience arises from representing a large spectrum of individuals and businesses. His current focus on complex construction and personal injury defense is strongly informed by his broader litigation experience in a variety of practice areas, which include premises liability, negligent security, legal malpractice defense, medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense, real estate agent/broker and insurance agent/broker errors and omissions, non-profit law, legislative/governmental relations, and administrative law.

Michael’s path to the practice of law was not direct and thus his experience is informed by a unique background in public and private sectors. After earning his undergraduate degree in international studies, Michael undertook an internship for a U.S. Senator in Washington D.C., gaining first-hand insight into the legislative process. Prior to attending law school, Michael served as an administrative law judge for the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, presiding over perhaps thousands of administrative hearings, ruling on disputed unemployment claims—and ultimately—managing, training, and supervising a team of hearing officers.

Having decided on a career in law, Michael went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2014, graduating magna cum laude within the top of his class. While in law school, Michael was named a Staff Editor for the FCSL Law Review. He also served as a summer clerk at the Florida First District Court of Appeal and worked as a law clerk for a Jacksonville employment law firm. Michael was admitted to practice in the State of Florida in 2014. Prior to joining Taylor Day, he was as a contract attorney for a nationwide veterans’ non-profit organization and a litigation attorney for a large insurance defense firm. His broad background now inspires his practice philosophies for providing a high-quality legal product with strategies and options for clients that balance zealous client representation and efficient use of limited resources for the best practical outcome.

Beyond the office, Michael is an avid outdoorsman. When he is not spending family time with his wife and three children, he is passionate about sport shooting, firearms training, fishing, and hunting.
