Most of his cases involving situations where the company could be bankrupted or an individual stands to lose their net worth. His experience and success as a civil trial lawyer has led to his representation of Fortune 500’s, multiple international and national insurers, major political parties, prominent national and regional businesses, professional associations and individuals from several states. Michael has served as plaintiff and defense counsel in class action lawsuits in state and federal courts throughout Florida. In addition to trying jury trials in multiple counties and courts, Michael has argued before 4 of the 5 District Courts of Appeal in Florida, with favorable opinions in each. Michael’s work in the courtroom has lead to various leadership positions and appointments within the profession.

He was elected by the 4000+ lawyers and judges of the Fourth Judicial Circuit (Duval, Clay and Nassau Counties) to serve them on The Florida Bar Board of Governors. The Board is comprised of 52 elected attorneys in Florida who represent the nearly 110,000 lawyers in Florida with exclusive authority to formulate and adopt matters of policy concerning the activities of The Florida Bar. Michael serves or has served on The Jacksonville Bar Board of Governors; the Chester Bedell Inn of Court Executive Committee, The Florida Bar’s Civil Rules of Procedure Committee, The Florida Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, and The Florida Supreme Court Historical Society. Michael is a past president and board member of both The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division and The Jacksonville Bar Young Lawyers Section. He has served in multiple program chair positions including The Florida Bar’s Practicing with Professionalism Program, where he was also a moderator on multiple occasions.

While serving as one of the appointed lawyers reviewing, drafting and editing the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, Michael was honored with the opportunity to co-author the third chapter of Civil Trial Practice, “Trial by Court or by Jury,” published by The Florida Bar in conjunction with LexisNexis. Michael’s experience and the results he continues to obtain for his clients have resulted in various recognition including an AV Rating from Martindale Hubbell, Best Lawyers in America, Florida Super Lawyers (Top 5%), Florida Trend Legal Elite, National Trial Lawyers Top 100, Attorney at Law Magazine Top 10 under 40, National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40, Jacksonville Business Journal Top 40 under 40, and East Carolina University Alumni Top 40 under 40.

In the community, Michael aids various organizations through board service and volunteer work.
