Michael Kwiatkowski was a partner and head of McLeod Law’s Commercial Litigation group. He spent his entire legal career with McLeod Law, joining the firm as an articling student in 2007 and becoming a partner in 2014.
Over nearly two decades with the firm, Mike built an extensive litigation practice focused on construction-related and high-conflict disputes, commercial real estate matters, and other complex commercial litigation. He regularly appeared before the Alberta Court of King’s Bench and Alberta Court of Appeal and was recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in Construction Law.
Before becoming a lawyer, Mike was an athlete on Canada’s National Snowboard Team and later served as a torchbearer for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. He remained actively involved in the sporting community throughout his career, including through the Alberta Snowboard Association and the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada.
Mike passed away suddenly in October 2026. He was a valued leader, colleague and friend, and an important part of McLeod Law for nearly two decades. He will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him.
