Biography
Micah Echols leads the appellate division at Claggett & Sykes Law Firm in Las Vegas, Nevada. His practice focuses on Appellate Practice, Commercial Litigation, and Litigation – Labor and Employment. He is often brought into matters before or during trial to assist trial teams with identifying and preserving issues for appeal and developing a clear record. Micah has handled more than 300 civil appellate matters in state and federal courts, representing injured plaintiffs, businesses, and government entities.
Micah has argued cases before the Nevada Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court. His appellate work includes direct appeals, writ petitions, interlocutory appeals, and post-trial motion practice arising from complex commercial disputes, employment-related litigation, and other civil matters.
In addition to his litigation and appellate practice, Micah has published numerous articles addressing appellate procedure and legal developments. He has contributed to the Nevada Civil Appeal Checklist and the Nevada Appellate Practice Manual, resources used by attorneys practicing in Nevada appellate courts. Micah currently serves as editor of The Advocate, the Nevada Justice Association’s magazine for plaintiff lawyers, and is an active participant on the organization’s Amicus Committee.
Through Claggett & Sykes, Micah is regularly retained by other law firms to assist with trial strategy related to error preservation, post-trial motions, and appellate briefing. He also works closely with litigation teams on appeal-related issues that arise during ongoing trials in Nevada state and federal courts.
Micah earned his undergraduate degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University in 1999 and received his Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 2003. He is married and the father of six daughters. Outside of his law practice, Micah enjoys spending time with his family and attending Major League Baseball games.
