Megan Wood is an Associate in the corporate / commercial group at Farris LLP in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her practice focuses on Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, including corporate commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate finance, and real estate matters. Megan advises private and public companies across a variety of industries on transactions, governance, and ongoing business matters.
Megan regularly advises clients in the hospitality, wine, brewery, and distilled spirits sectors throughout British Columbia. She assists clients with structuring and negotiating winery and distillery purchase and sale transactions, corporate reorganizations, financing matters, and regulatory compliance affecting alcoholic beverage businesses. Her recent work includes acting for second- and third-generation members of the Jackson Family in connection with acquisitions of wineries and vineyards in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, advising Empress Gin on its sale to a U.S. private equity group, and assisting with the acquisition of Dillon’s Distillers for the Mark Anthony Group. Over the past five years, Megan has been involved in approximately 25 winery transactions in the Okanagan Valley and frequently advises on agricultural land matters and regulatory considerations affecting the industry.
In addition to her Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law practice, Megan advises clients in the forestry sector and works with First Nations on commercial business arrangements, governance matters, and economic development initiatives.
Megan serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association for Food Law and Policy (CAFLP), a national not-for-profit organization focused on food law and policy. She has also completed the Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in Wine through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), reflecting her continued involvement in the wine industry and related business sectors.
Megan received her Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2018. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from Cornell University. Megan joined Farris LLP as a summer student in 2016, completed her articles with the firm, and became an associate in 2018.
