Matthew V. Rusch is a litigation attorney in Omaha, Nebraska with more than 20 years of experience representing clients in federal and state courts throughout Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa. A member of Erickson Sederstrom since 2004, his practice includes Litigation - Insurance, architect and engineer defense, construction litigation, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, and general civil litigation.
Matt represents insurance companies, architects, engineers, financial institutions, creditors, and individuals in a variety of contested matters. He regularly handles disputes involving insurance claims, professional liability, construction-related issues, foreclosures, repossessions, and replevin actions. His experience in both trial and litigation matters allows him to guide clients through complex legal disputes across multiple industries.
Before joining Erickson Sederstrom, Matt served on active duty with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1999 to 2004. During his military service, he tried court-martial cases at Fort Lewis, Washington, and served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney at Fort Riley, Kansas. His military background provided significant courtroom and trial experience early in his legal career.
Matt retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2023 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a legal advisor for an Army medical brigade in Iraq. Throughout his military career, he worked in the areas of Military Justice, National Security Law, Administrative Law, and Legal Assistance.
In addition to his legal practice, Matt has been invited to speak at continuing legal education programs on topics involving civil litigation, professional negligence, insurance-related matters, and military law.
