Matthew S. "Matt" Healey

Matthew is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation law. He has been a key member of the Workers’ Compensation Department at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin since joining the firm in 2015. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Matthew regularly handles Workers’ Compensation matters throughout the state and has substantial experience litigating cases before the North Carolina Industrial Commission. His work has also included representing clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Matthew earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, graduating with honors, and his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. After law school, he began his career at one of the largest corporate defense firms in North Carolina, representing businesses and insurance companies. Over time, he decided to shift his focus to representing injured workers and pursuing a practice centered on Workers’ Compensation law.

Since making that transition, Matthew has concentrated his practice on advocating for individuals who have been injured on the job or who suffer from occupational diseases. His approach emphasizes careful case preparation, clear communication, and thorough knowledge of North Carolina Workers’ Compensation law. He has received recognition for his work and continues to build his practice through consistent representation of injured workers and employers in Workers’ Compensation matters.

Matthew represents clients in claims involving on-the-job injuries and occupational diseases, including conditions related to asbestos exposure, as well as civil claims arising from injuries caused by negligent third parties. He has a particular focus on catastrophic injury cases, such as spinal cord injuries, amputations, and traumatic brain injuries. These cases often involve long-term medical treatment and complex legal issues, and Matthew works diligently to pursue appropriate benefits and medical care under the law.
