Biography

Matt Hale focuses his practice on assisting businesses and their owners with restructuring matters, including both in-court and out-of-court solutions. He represents debtors, creditors, committees, and trustees in business bankruptcy cases with an emphasis on preserving and maximizing value for all stakeholders. His practice regularly involves navigating complex financial and operational issues under the Bankruptcy Code.

In addition to bankruptcy matters, Matt represents fiduciaries and other parties in Florida assignment for the benefit of creditors proceedings and receivership cases. His experience also includes commercial litigation related to insolvency and creditor rights, such as fraudulent transfer actions, preference actions, disputes involving directors and officers, complex creditor enforcement matters, business owner disputes, real estate litigation, and contract disputes.

Matt is a member of the Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law practice at Stichter, Riedel, Blain & Postler, P.A., where he represents clients throughout Tampa, Florida, and beyond. Prior to joining the firm, Matt served as a term law clerk to the Honorable Karen S. Jennemann, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Florida.

Matt earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law. While in law school, he served as an editor of the Florida State University Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Economics, from the University of Florida.

Matt lives in South Tampa with his wife and two daughters. Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys fishing, playing golf, and spending time outdoors. His interests also include backcountry hiking, and he has completed the John Muir Trail through California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains and summited Mount Rainier in Washington.
