Biography

Matthew Ryen is a Rochester, New York native and an attorney with Lacy Katzen LLP. He counsels individuals and businesses across a wide range of legal matters, with a focus on practical guidance tailored to each client’s goals. His practice includes Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law, as well as Business Organizations, including LLCs and partnerships.

Before joining Lacy Katzen LLP, Matt served as a law clerk with the United States Department of the Interior, National Indian Gaming Commission, the federal agency responsible for regulating gaming on Indian lands. In that role, he assisted with the review and approval of casino management contracts and tribal gaming laws, gaining valuable experience with regulatory compliance and complex transactional issues.

Matt’s work spans corporate, real estate, and debtor-creditor matters, allowing him to advise clients on both transactional planning and financial challenges. His background in business transactions and insolvency-related issues supports his counseling of clients involved in business acquisitions, financing arrangements, municipal and development initiatives, and the formation and operation of business entities.

Matt regularly assists clients with acquiring stock and assets of companies, securing local development agency financing, completing deferred tax exchanges, and conducting due diligence in connection with the provision of capital to business entities. His practice also includes advising on licensing agreements, partnerships, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, service contracts, and other commercial arrangements. In addition, he works with clients on lending and collection matters, real estate leasing and development, planning for the disposition of assets upon death, and addressing a variety of employment-related issues.
