My practice focuses on representing people who have been injured in accidents, including motor vehicle accidents, construction accidents, slip and fall cases, and other personal injury matters. I began my legal career representing injured individuals, and personal injury law has remained a significant focus of my practice throughout my career.

One aspect of my background that provides a distinct perspective is my experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury matters. Having worked on both sides of these cases, I understand how insurance companies and defense attorneys evaluate claims, the issues they often focus on, and some of the challenges injured individuals may face during the legal process. I bring that perspective to each case while advocating for my clients.

I also have experience handling cases through virtually every stage of litigation, including working with insurance companies, conducting depositions, participating in mediations and arbitrations, and handling trials and appeals. That experience allows me to evaluate a case not only based on its current posture, but also with an understanding of how it may progress as the matter moves forward.

“Do I have a case?” That is often one of the first questions people ask after an accident. Every situation is different, so I begin by learning what happened, reviewing the available evidence, and evaluating whether another person or entity may be legally responsible for the injuries involved.

“What is my case worth?” There is no set formula for determining the value of a personal injury case at the beginning of the process. A variety of factors can affect potential value, including the nature and extent of the injuries, medical treatment, lost income, the impact the injuries have had on a person’s daily life, available insurance coverage, and the strength of the evidence. As the case moves forward, I help clients understand how these factors may influence the case.

“Should I talk to the insurance company?” Insurance companies are involved in most personal injury matters, and early communications can be important. My background representing both plaintiffs and defendants has given me perspective on how these claims are evaluated. I encourage people to understand their rights before giving recorded statements, signing documents, or making decisions that could affect their claim.

“How long is my case going to take?” The timeline depends on the specific circumstances of the case. Some matters may be resolved through negotiation, while others involve litigation, mediation, arbitration, or trial. I work to provide realistic expectations from the outset and keep clients informed as the case progresses.

“What happens if the insurance company won’t make a fair offer?” Not every case can be resolved through settlement discussions. Part of my role is helping clients evaluate their options and make informed decisions about how to proceed. Because I have experience handling matters through trial and appeal, I am prepared to continue pursuing a case when litigation becomes necessary.

One of the biggest challenges in personal injury law is that injured individuals and insurance companies often view a claim from very different perspectives. For the client, an accident may affect their health, ability to work, family responsibilities, and daily life. For the insurance company, the claim is evaluated through factors such as liability, medical documentation, damages, and other evidence.

Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants has given me insight into those differing viewpoints. One of the ongoing challenges is ensuring that the client’s experience and the full impact of the injury are clearly supported by the evidence and effectively presented throughout the case.

Another challenge is that no two cases develop in exactly the same way. New information may emerge, circumstances can change, and matters may proceed through negotiation, litigation, trial, or appeal. Adapting to those developments while continuing to keep clients informed is an important part of the process.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my two children and taking advantage of everything Western New York has to offer. In my free time, I enjoy skiing, playing soccer and golf, and biking around town.

Western New York has always been home for me. I was born and raised here and earned both my undergraduate degree and law degree from the University at Buffalo. Building my career in this community and representing people from the area where I grew up is something I value deeply.

I also believe communication is an important part of representing clients. Most people do not regularly deal with personal injury claims or lawsuits, and the legal process can feel unfamiliar and stressful. I strive to keep clients informed about what is happening in their case, explain their options clearly, and make myself available to answer questions throughout the process.
