Biography
Marty Phillips is an attorney with Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell PLC in Jackson, Tennessee, and has been associated with the firm since earning his law degree in 1991 from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an honor limited to a small percentage of attorneys in each state or province. Mr. Phillips has been recognized multiple times as Lawyer of the Year in Medical Malpractice Law by The Best Lawyers in America and has been selected for inclusion among a statewide group of attorneys recognized by Super Lawyers in Tennessee. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Mr. Phillips previously served as Chairman of the Medico-Legal Committee of the Tennessee Bar Association. His practice focuses on Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants, representing clinics, hospitals, physicians, and nurses in medical malpractice actions. He has handled hundreds of matters at both the trial court level and in appellate courts throughout Tennessee. In addition, he maintains a broad civil litigation practice. Mr. Phillips serves as Group Leader of the firm’s Medical Malpractice Practice Group. He is a frequent lecturer on medical malpractice and trial practice topics and is the author of “The Admissibility of Failing the Board Certification Exam,” published by the Defense Research Institute. He is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in Medical Malpractice Law, as well as recognition by Mid-South Super Lawyers® for at least fifteen consecutive years. Mr. Phillips is a past president of the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, a Fellow of the Memphis Bar Foundation, and a Master of the Bench in the Howell Edmunds Jackson American Inn of Court.
