Martin Liebernickel

Dr. Martin Liebernickel is a partner at SKW Schwarz in Frankfurt am Main. He advises well-known German family businesses and their shareholders, as well as high-net-worth individuals, on all aspects of succession and wealth planning.

He is a seasoned practitioner and advises on domestic and international tax law, family-owned companies and family offices, asset structuring, cross-border estate planning and structuring (including trusts), business and asset succession, voluntary self-disclosures, as well as inheritance disputes and settlements.

Before joining SKW Schwarz as a partner in January 2026, Martin was a partner at a leading German law firm in the field of private client advisory, where he headed the Frankfurt department for private clients (2017–2025). Previously, he was a director at a “big four” accountancy firm, leading the private client solutions group in Frankfurt am Main (2003–2017), and worked in the tax department of a “big four” accountancy firm in Stuttgart (1999–2003).

He was admitted to the German bar in 1999 and as a tax advisor in 2003. He studied law at the University of Tuebingen (Ph.D.; 1999).
