Martha Hardwick Hofmeister has been trying business cases in state and federal courts, negotiating agreements, and solving her clients’ legal problems in a cost-conscious and efficient manner since 1984.
She represents corporations and business owners involved in complex litigation as plaintiffs or as defendants. Her clients include professional service firms, real estate developers, manufacturers, health care companies, and financial institutions. She also provides counsel to businesses in matters of litigation avoidance and employment practices, preparing and reviewing contracts, and assisting in all types of tactical business decisions.
Selected to The Best Lawyers In America list each year since 2012 in recognition of her work in the area of commercial litigation, she also has been selected consistently to the Texas Super Lawyers listing since 2003. An AV rated attorney, she has been named to the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers and is a member of the prestigious American Law Institute.
Active in numerous professional and community organizations, she has earned regional and national recognition for public and charitable service from the Presbyterian Communities and Services Foundation, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Foundation, the Federal Bar Association, the American Inns of Court, and the State Bar of Texas.
Ms. Hofmeister has served as President of the William “Mac” Taylor, Jr. 112th American Inn of Court and is a past president and trustee of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association. She has served on the local, district, and international levels as an officer, director, and committee chair for Altrusa International, Inc., and serves as the Altrusa International Foundation’s legal advisor.
She is a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees in English from Emory University. She has served as the director of the Dallas Bar Foundation’s annual fundraising “follies” show, Bar None, since its inception in 1986.
